Alfie

Alfie is a sensitive boy who unfortunately has to be rehomed. He is a wonderful 5 year old mixed breed who is very loving and playful. He can be quite unsure when in new situations so would like someone who could work with him to build up his confidence. Alfie is also looking to work on his socialisation skills with other dogs as he hasn't had many positive interactions with other dogs and has been attacked in the past, making him extremely anxious around other pups. Alfie is a very loyal and protecting dog, he can therefore be quite noisey if he picks up on what could be a potential threat. Alfie also, due to his loyalty, struggles with being separated from his owner, and can become quite adgitated at the idea of someone leaving. Alfie is frightened of loud noises, a fear he developed in his previous home that he has not yet been able to overcome. This can make nights such as bonfire night a challenge as Alfie tends to get very vocal. Walks with Alfie must take place on a lead at all times as he DOES NOT HAVE RECALL and tends to get distracted easily. Alfie, during his time with us, has been socialised in public, dog friendly spaces, and therefore behaves very well in pubs, diners and other dog friendly establishments as long as no other dogs are seated nearby.
Alfie tore his cruciate ligament in his back left leg, in September of 2022. Alfie therefore underwent surgery carried out by the PDSA in Shamrock Street, Glasgow, which seen a figure of eight wire inserted in the knee to hold the ligament back into place. This surgery went smoothly with no complications and Alfie has now made a full recovery. He has however developed arthritis in said leg, which we were warned of before hand. Due to this, Alfie can still sometimes limp on his back leg if walking for a long time, however, the vet has assured us this is nothing to worry about.
Alfie has lived with a male cat and a female rabbit before so he could share his home again, however he is preferably looking to be the only animal in the home. As Alfie can be protective and suffer from jealousy issues, he would prefer a single owner home however a couple home with no children may be considered. Alfie will not be given to anyone under the age of 25 and proof of this will be asked for if we feel necessary. Alfie really likes company so would like someone at home throughout the day with him. Once settled, time alone can be gradually introduced. Alfie is looking to have direct access to his own garden that is secured with a high fence that he cannot escape from, as he has a habit of trying to bolt when your back is turned! Alfie can sometimes try to eat things that he shouldn't, such as socks and soft toys so his new home should be mindful of this. Alfieās new home must be a calm home environment.
If you feel like you would be a suitable owner for this gorgeous boy, please do not hesitate to get in contact.
