We are trying to find Badger’s forever home. Badger is currently being fostered in Portsmouth, Hampshire. His future owners will need to meet him before adoption, to ensure a smooth transition. Pick up or drop off is dependent on location.
Medium sized boy that has previously lived successfully with a younger, female dog. He takes time to get to know new people and can be nervous.
Badger did not have a great start to life in Romania. Him and his puppy siblings were found in a sack, tied to a tree and left to die. Badger was then adopted by a young couple in the UK. Due to lockdown, Badger was unable to get the right amount of socialisation when he was younger. His owners had some difficulty with his behaviour and decided to find him a better suited home.
To prevent Badger from going to a kennel, my partner and I decided to foster him. When Badger first came to us, he was very reactive on the leash towards people and other dogs. He has responded incredibly well to his obedience training and is improving everyday. We are so proud of how he is overcoming so many of his fears! Badger is currently doing very well with his on leash recall and is yet to start is off leash training.
It will be important for Badger’s new owners to continue with this training, whilst also providing lots of love and patience. Once Badger is comfortable and feels safe, he is extremely affectionate and loving. Badger is more wary of men than women.
Badger is very intelligent and responsive to training. He is extremely motivated by food. Badger loves being outside and going on walks. He travels very well in the car and is fully toilet trained. A secure garden is a must and a home without cats.
Due to his nervous personality, we believe a home without children is also best. Badger would thrive in a quiet home. He needs to be slowly introduced to having new people in his home and boundaries need to be put in place to achieve success with visitors. Badger has no food aggression.
If you are interested in adopting Badger and understand the commitment you are making when you take on a Romanian rescue dog, please contact me.
Thanks.
Claine.
