The hardest decision ever has come that we are having to rehome our rescue cockapoo George. Who we rescued at 16 weeks old where he was previously abused by a man. He is 18 months old now and unfortunately cannot have a forever home with us due to housing issues and me being pregnant.
George does have his issues which I’m happy to go into so much more detail about with serious enquiries.
George can live with another dog that he has bonded with. But not with children.
George is very co dependant and has separation anxiety problems, so would require regular and careful training to overcome this (and very understanding neighbours) he does not destroy things, he just cries. Or someone that is maybe retired/part time or works from home, that can dedicate a lot of time to spend with George.
He also is dog reactive and has barrier frustration on a lead.
He currently lives with my 2 other dogs who he has known from a puppy. He would most likely prefer to live with another dog but could also live without one and receive all his love from his owner.
He is a sensitive boy, and really needs a gentle and calm approach.
A quiet and patient home is a MUST. He is easily fearful and timid, especially around new people / some situations and needs his confidence built with it.
He is terrified of a crate / enclosed spaces.
Very scared of men also, once he gets to know a man after a period of time (without being forced to say hello) then he is okay. Once he trusts someone (man or woman) then he really is their best friend.
currently walks on a halti and lead but reacts to dogs and some men.
His separation anxiety can be very bad. He sleeps upstairs with us in the bedroom.
We currently leave him for around 2/3 hours a day with no barking, this has taken some time and training to get here. He is worse when he knows we’re in the house, he wants to see us and be upstairs too.

George is fully toilet trained, his engagement is 100% and food drive is high, so with the right time and training, he can and will go far, but he NEEDS a patient owner, that is calm and gentle with him.
If you’re not extremely patient and willing to show an anxious dog all the love in the world even on the bad days,
Then George isn’t the right dog for you.
He loves playing with his best friends so if he bonds with your dog then a friendship will bond quickly.
He loves to run around and loves car rides (needs a dog guard if he’s wanted to stay in the boot as he will jump through to the back). He loves going out on adventures with you, loves going to coffee shops and will sit there with you for however long you need and sleep whilst you enjoy your coffee and lunch.
He will do anything for his person. He much prefers to be in his bubble with the people/person he loves. Instead of having people come up to him trying to stroke him, this unfortunately sets him back and makes him more scared and less confident to be out.

If you think you can give George the home/ time / lifestyle that he truly deserves and you think you can him and have him as a part of your family then please reach out and come and meet him.

A contract would be in place as George is not to be sold/rehomed on if your circumstances were to change. He would be returned to us where he will have a home.
We would like to stay in touch with his new home to make his settle the nicest, and see how he is doing.
Support from us will be there for life, training sessions can be provided etc.
